Supervised Practice & Licensure

Luis Lopez is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #147456) registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. All clinical services are provided under the supervision of Andrea Connor, LMFT#133757; LPCC#21563. As an associate Luis works under the supervision of Andrea Connor at Metanoia Family Counseling Services. This website is merely Luis’ personal website for informational & educational purposes.

As an associate, I am working toward full licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. Associate-level care meets the same professional and ethical standards as licensed practice.

I do not provide crisis intervention or emergency response services.

I typically respond to non-urgent messages within 24-48 business hours (Monday-Friday). If you need immediate support, please use the crisis resources above.

Confidentiality

All therapy services are provided in accordance with California law and HIPAA regulations. Confidentiality is maintained except when required by law, including cases of suspected abuse, imminent danger to self or others, or court order.

Telehealth Services & Fees

I provide individual psychotherapy services to individuals and couples located in California. All therapy sessions are conducted using the secure, HIPAA-compliant Telehealth platform, Simple Practice. Individual therapy sessions are $175 for 50 minutes. Payment is due at the time of service.

Insurance

I am not in-network with any insurance companies and do not bill insurance directly. However, many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network mental health benefits.

Upon request, I will provide you with a detailed monthly superbill (receipt) that includes:

  • My credentials and supervisor’s tax ID

  • Session dates and CPT codes

  • Amount paid

  • Diagnosis code

You can submit this superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement rates vary by plan, typically ranging from 50-80% of the session fee.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours notice.

  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will be charged the full session fee ($175)

  • No-shows will be charged the full session fee

  • Exceptions may be made for emergencies or sudden illness

This policy ensures I can offer your time to others who may be waiting for care. You may cancel by phone, email, or client portal.
